Walkloden mottled
High-quality wool loden mottled - made from pure new wool in very good quality - mulesing-free!
The name Walkloden originally came about through the manufacturing process. In this process, the wool is milled, i.e. Walkloden. Our Walkloden is made from 100% virgin wool and is therefore an absolutely natural product.
Wool has fantastic properties, it is breathable, wrinkle-resistant, easy to care for and skin-friendly.
Mulesing free wool from England
- No flies, no mulesing
What does mulesing free mean?
Mulesing is a practice in sheep breeding in which the sensitive skin in the tail area is removed. This procedure is carried out to prevent infestation with fly maggots, which occur particularly in Australia and New Zealand. Infections of this type can be fatal for sheep. So basically, removing the excess skin is a sensible thing to do.
The problem, however, is that mulesing is usually performed without anesthesia or painkillers. This fact makes the procedure an equally painful alternative to fly strikes.
Although the topic is hotly debated and more and more breeders in Australia and New Zealand are making efforts, the process is still used regularly and it is not clearly communicated which farms actually work without mulesing.
Since the problematic flies do not occur at all in England, yarns from this region are 100% mulesing-free. This also applies to the fibers of our high-quality woolen wool.
